In recent weeks, congregations have received a package from the Friends of the Foundation. The Foundation is not responsible for the program or the Friends . The package invites congregations to meet in clusters to celebrate the Centennial anniversary of the Church and provides a liturgy and offering envelopes that direct donations to the congregation and to the Foundation.
The funds named by the Friends of the Foundation, on the offering envelopes they provided, are existing funds that anyone can give to at any time in support of a few of the main denominational priorities. We are also always happy to work together to create funds that support ministry of congregations, United Church outreach organizations or other communities of faith. The fact the Friends of the Foundation have chosen the highlight the funds we hold that support denominational priorities is wonderful and appreciated, however, we have no involvement in the actual celebrations they are organizing.
The program offered by the Friends is one of the ways congregations may choose to mark the 100th anniversary of the church, however, each congregation should feel free to choose whether or not to accept the invitation as best suits them.
The denominational commemoration of the Centennial includes a worship service on June 8, 2025, a public outreach campaign and a Centennial Legacy Campaign led by the Foundation to support Communities of Faith in inviting gifts for their ministry and future use. Regions are also inviting their membership and friends into a variety of activities marking this momentous occasion and many congregations are choosing a variety of ways to celebrate and commemorate in their own communities.
