Coffee with Rev. Phil Wilson Webinar Replay

Thanks for joining us for our webinar, Coffee with Rev. Phil Wilson! If you missed the conversation with Rev. Phil Wilson, here is the webinar replay.

In this webinar, Rev. Phil shares about Emmanuel United Church’s (Odessa, ON) Deaf Ministry project, which has received Seeds of Hope funding through the Faith and Mission Fund and a Strengthening Invitation Grant.

The project has thoughtfully blossomed from providing ASL interpreters in Sunday worship, to inviting hearing members to learn ASL. Accessibility has been a huge focus for the entire project, from providing courses at no cost, to offering onsite babysitting during classes.

About Rev. Phil Wilson:

Phil currently serves in a shared ministry with four congregations: Emmanuel (Odessa), Trinity (Elginburg), Riverside (Yarker), and Moscow United Church.

“In many ways, my first language is American Sign Language (ASL) as I am the child of Deaf Adults,” Phil says.

Before my ministry, Phil was a professional ASL/English interpreter. He served as a member of the National Working Group on Deaf Ministries and held a long working relationship as an interpreter with the former Bay of Quinte Conference. He was involved with coordinating the ASL team signing for the Then Let Us Sing hymn videos. Phil has also served as member and past Chair of the East Central Ontario Regional Council Equity team.

“Accessibility is and has been a passion of mine in the church and beyond,” he tells us.
