Thankful for Strong Leaders
Foundation President Sarah Charters shares a brief, but heartfelt thanks for the dedicated leaders serving the United Church of Canada.
A Gift to the Church
In my work, I have the honour and privilege of working with both the Board of Directors of The United Church of Canada Foundation and the Executive of the General Council. Within a week’s span last month, both groups met to review and discuss various items of “business”.
As I often am, I was struck and deeply moved by the faithful and thoughtful discernment on several issues before them. The depth of concern for the church – current and future, the expertise and skill offered, the willingness to constructively wrestle with difficult topics, is an absolute gift to the Foundation and the Church. These folks receive no compensation for their time or advice. They generously give of their time and expertise simply out of love for the church. It is a blessing to be able to support such strong, dedicated leaders. I am grateful for their service.

Gracious God,
we’re full of gratitude for those who serve and support the United Church through the General Council Executive and the Foundation Board. Their care for the church is a gift to us now and to future generations.
We’re thankful for the strong leaders in these amazing groups and the thoughtful curiosity and wisdom they show and share.
We pray that you continue to call the curious, the faithful, and the hopeful to take on this important work. Uniting in your name for justice, peace, and deeper community, reflecting your love.
