Dreaming for the Future
“Our project was a dream. [Seeds of Hope] allowed us to bring it into reality,” Lisa Byer-de Wever says of the Respect and Kanoronhkwátshera initiative. The project emphasizes Indigenous justice activities while supporting communications between Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations. “The church has to put its money where its mouth is. We talk about the [Truth and Reconciliation Commission], the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Calls to Action… intentionally working within these frameworks, the Foundation gave us the opportunity not only for the dream of today but how this will impact the next seven generations. This funding created a seed of hope for generations to come.”
