United Church of Canada Foundation Joins Fund Canada
The United Church of Canada Foundation is proud to join Fund Canada, led by New Power Labs, a national effort to unlock $500M in grants and investments for underfunded and overlooked leaders by 2030.
Capital continues to flow to a narrow subset of leaders in Canada, limiting innovation, economic growth, and social resilience.
Now more than ever, it is critical that the philanthropic and financial sectors back the breadth of talent and innovation driving Canada’s growth.
Fund Canada launches with 16 asset owners and 6 asset managers
Fund Canada calls on Canadian foundations, impact funds, family offices, financial institutions, venture capital firms, and other asset owners and managers to align their capital with this critical opportunity to strengthen Canada’s economy. The path forward is clear: unlock the potential of diverse-led organizations and businesses driving the country’s next wave of innovation and productivity.
At launch, Fund Canada includes $334.9 million from 16 asset owners and $148 million from 6 asset managers from across New Power Lab partners. These early commitments reflect both grants and private-market investments directed toward leaders and founders who continue to face barriers in accessing capital.
Fund Canada is a coordinated national campaign. Each pledger deploys their own capital while New Power Labs tracks collective progress and reports on outcomes through 2031.
How Fund Canada Works
Fund Canada invites asset owners and asset managers to take five key steps:
- Pledge – Join a national cohort committed to unlocking capital for underfunded and overlooked leaders.
- Unlock – Disburse capital between 2025 and 2030 through grants or private market investments.
- Connect – Join a national network of peers sharing data, insights, and opportunities.
- Measure – Report disbursements annually to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Inspire – Amplify impact and encourage others to take the pledge.
