Upcoming Webinar – Works in Action: Empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities

Mark your calendars for June 6, 2024, at 12 PM EST for Works in Action: Empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities. This one-hour webinar will spotlight inspiring projects dedicated to supporting and uplifting 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, supported by the United Church of Canada Foundation. Our panel of past grant recipients will share about their initiatives, learnings, and experience working with the Foundation. Learn about the tangible ways people are empowering and celebrating the Two-Spirt and LGBTQIA+ communities in all their diversity.

Join us to hear stories and reflections from:

  • Shaun Fryday and Patricia Neves, St. Andrew’s United Church (Halifax, NS) – PRIDE PLACE Round Table
  • Ally Phillips, Silver Spire United Church (St. Catherine’s, ON) – Queer Kid Bible Camp
  • David Hawkins, West Island LGBTQ2+ Centre (Beaconsfield, QC) – LGBTQIA Migrant and Refugee Support Program

This webinar will be moderated by David Hallman. David Hallman is a former GCO staff member, and has had a strong history of supporting UCC 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy. He worked on international environmental ethics for most of his career and during that time authored five books. His writing has now branched out in new directions with the memoir August Farewell, the novel Searching for Gilead, and the short story collection Book Tales.

The Foundation stands with the United Church, affirming together that gender and sexuality are gifts of God, and that all persons are made in the image of God. The United Church is opposed to discrimination against any person on any basis by which a person is devalued, including sexuality and gender identity.
