Meeting People Where They Are
When discussing how the Sylvan Summer Camp project has impacted and intersects with the faith of participants, Katharine stresses the importance of meeting folks where they are. The camp has been an opportunity to engage with families in the community in a way that is different from ‘Sunday Mornings’. Katharine says, “to meet people in passions and interests and places that we’re coming to from a faith perspective, but still do it in a way that meets people coming from different avenues is so vital. It’s being the Church in the world. If nothing else, there’s a group of kids who learned some Biblically-rooted stories about how we need to take care of the Earth and take care of each other. With everything going on in the world, that is such an important lesson to model and live into.”
