Foundation Family News – David Armour

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace [1 Peter 4:10]

We are sad to share the news that former Foundation President David Armour has died. David was President from February 2011 until May 2020.

David was a big personality who dedicated his life, in his words, to “supporting those who care for others”. He contributed much to the Foundation including overseeing the transfer of the church’s long-term assets in 2013, guiding the Foundation to financial self-sufficiency in 2015 and the beginnings of impact investing in 2019. We are grateful for all we learned from him. There was never any question that David cared very deeply about the work we shared.

We hold David’s family and friends in our prayers and give thanks for his life. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, May 7 at Royal York Road United Church in Toronto.

Dealt with David via email for years till I was able to meet him one day at national office, and he was salt of the earth. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

David was always very friendly and welcoming. The first year we were in our new offices on the second floor at 3250 Bloor, David helped with our in-house Christmas party. He bought various Christmas and holiday-themed stuffed animals to decorate the office and staff could take them home afterwards. I got a little snowman that I use each year; I think of David each time I take it out.

I am so very fortunate to meet David. He was a wonderful conversationist. May he fly high..

David took one of his many little 'trips' outside of hugely populated towns and villages and cities to visit much smaller communities of faith to share his visions of who and what we need to be as truly people of abundance and to share this with the world...he will always be reminded to me that yes...one person can make a huge difference and he pretty well nailed it!!
